Summary: What can a vampire do when he can no longer drink blood?
Over a century ago, vampiric Lord Ruthven (Arthur Roberts) and his sister Diana (Glori-Anne Gilbert) stalked the same prey, lovely Roxanne Dumas (Kennedy Johnston). Now Lord Ruthven is revived in the 21th Century by sexy Countess Dracula (Eyana Barsky). Ruthven's only hope - revive his more evil, lesbian sister Diana to stalk the night to secure his own nourishment. Together they pursue the reincarnation of their lost love, with only one priest (Jacinto Molina) able to stop them from fulfilling their unholy desires!
Note: - Sequel to Scarlet Countess aka "The Erotic Rites Of Countess Dracula" (2001), though this is pretty much a standalone story, with the only real link between the two being the character of Renfield, here played once again by Del Howison.
- This is Spanish horror film legend Paul Naschy's first American film. Naschy, who starred in countless werewolf films throughout the 1960s and 1970s, doesn't speak English and therefore is speaking in his own voice (in Spanish and subtitled in English). Some lines are little homages to his old movies, and he plays a character named Padre Jacinto (his real name is Jacinto Molina).
- Ruthven was the character in the story "The Vampyre" (1819) by Dr. John Polidori (which introduced the gothic model of vampire-as-aristocrat), inspired by the meeting with Percy & Mary Shelley at Lord Byron's Swiss Villa Diodati (the events of that meeting can be seen in David Cronenberg's Gothic).
- The only way Lord Ruthven can drink blood is if it is first filtered through his sister Diana.
- Former comic book writer Donald F. Glut has published over 35 novels and even wrote the novel adptation of "The Empire Strikes Back".
