Ingrid Pitt (Actress)

Real Name:
Ingoushka Petrov
21st November 1937 in Poland

The busty actress claimed interational fame as Hammer's "Queen of horror". But her live didn't start that promising. Born on a train between Poland and Germany who transported her mother to a concentration camp, she was separated from her parents until the age of ten. Fortunately, the Red Cross took her to Berlin to reunite with them. One night in November 1962 she swam across the river Spree in East Berlin to escape the political situation there. She worked as a waitress until she got an offer for a lead role in Hammer's "The Vampire Lovers", which was the beginning of establishing her as an icon in the Fantasy/Horror Film genre. Aside from the film genre, she wrote several children's books and, together with her husband, "The Perons" (chronicling the history of the famous Argentinian politicians - published in 1982). She also gained a black belt in Karate and has a student pilot's license.
